One Step Forward - Two Steps Back - Update 5:15 EST

I just talked to Sharon for about a half hour.   She is saying that this has been a rough day for everyone so far.   Dad is practically beside himself because he feels like at any minute, he's gonna get "hit" with bad news again.

Here's some of the facts/observations we know now:

-Mom got another transfusion- her 12th unit of blood so far

Just so I would understand more, here is the information from bloodbook.com
We've been told several different things regarding the blood, so I looked it up!

               - an average adult has about 14 to 18 pints of blood
                - 1 standard unit of blood is a pint (equal to 2 cups)

Basically, Mom would have been given 24 cups of blood!  If you convert that over to terms I can understand, that's one and a half gallons!  Think of your gallons of milk.  One and half of those???  Wow.  That's a lot of blood!

- Mom isn't eating today and wouldn't even eat ice chips until the nurse talked her into it - that's discouraging

- She had some of her IV ports switched today -which means more "sticks".  Sharon said Mom's arms are all bruised up

-She is really down, weak, and weepy.  She told Sharon she just wants the surgery so she can be done with it

Of course, we think the surgery is much too dangerous right now.  She's weak and needs to build up strength if they were to do that.  We are praying that they won't need to do it at all!

-There is still blood in the stool and every time she uses the bathroom, it's tense until they know "results".  Where is this blood coming from???

-She is still listed as Critical, but stable... but the bleeding determines whether or not she'll remain "stable"

-We've reached the 3 day mark without hemorrhaging, but 48 hrs. where she is bleeding again

-"walking" isn't even an option because she is too weak.  She only used the potty chair by her bed once today and the rest of the time, she's using the pan

-She is not "sharp" in her thinking.  ICU syndrome (ICU
Psychosis) is settling in...even for Sharon and Dad to a point

-Sharon missed talking to the doctors because the nurses kicked them out of the ICU so Mom could rest (they are really limiting visits because she is so tired and weak)!  That didn't make us very happy!!!

We need to pray that :

-God will continue to send ministering angels to the ICU and surround them with a real, tangible sense of His presence.

-That He would life them up.  They are all discouraged today and need some uplifting.

-Please continue to pray for them for strength, increased vitality, health and healing, reduction of stress, and that God would guard their hearts and minds and give them peace.

-Fear would be bound from effecting them in any way

-Wisdom for the doctors

These prayers are right on in my spirit! If we all continue to pray in unity they will be answered and we will be surprised! Like when they prayed for Peter and He was in prison. He showed up at the door and they couldn't believe it. She is healed!!
